I’ve written before about the need for most college ministers not fully to “take a break” from shepherding for the summer. College ministers are likely to be – for the most part – the best-connected shepherd in their students’ lives, even when (hopefully!) they’re connecting deeply with a church back home.
So I just want to encourage you to reach out in moments where reaching out is needed. In your context, the Orlando shooting might be one of those moments.
Or others might come this summer: the presidential race certainly has its fodder, and other happy, sad, or odd moments could arise too.
You’ve got permission. And you’ve got a push.
