Continuing with the series, another way you could take one step forward this year:
Today’s challenge: Take one step forward in being a college minister who collaborates with other college ministers.
The idea: After connecting with hundreds of college ministers around the country, it’s clear that many of us are far too insulated. While we may do any collaboration that’s required – certain regional or national gatherings for our organization, for instance – “inbred wisdom” gets stale without us even knowing it. Brain-picking lunches with other local ministers, visits to other campuses, and conferences outside our own organization or denomination are opportunities to improve our own work. It’s not just about finding new methods; it’s about encountering new thinking, new questions, and new possibilities for what can be done.
- How familiar are you with how the other campus ministries in town “do” their weekly activities (large group, small group, etc.)?
- How familiar are you with WHY they do things this way?
- When’s the last time you attended a gathering of college ministers… outside your own circle?
- Are you raising up your student leaders to be collaborators?
