One of the ways to bond your students – even in the diaspora of summer! – is to develop ministry-wide traditions. (In olden days, these might even be called liturgies.)

It’s reading through the Bible together. Or reading another book over the same month. It might be a daily moment for prayer, when they know that many of their fellow students are all praying for the same thing at the same time. Perhaps it’s a short benediction you give at the end of every meeting. Maybe it’s even more obvious, like all wearing ministry T-shirts on the day of your large group meeting during the school year. Or maybe you could even send out a ministry-wide devotional, so everyone who “opts in” reads the same thing. (My church does that, and it’s powerful.)

Shared traditions can have an amazing impact. What could you institute this summer or in the fall?
