the next month isn’t only for fundraising, conferences, rest, and preparation

Your job simply isn’t over.

I know they’ve all gone home, but you’re their primary shepherd. Chances are, they don’t have much strategic shepherding at home – most churches are woefully inadequate in collegiate impact, as you probably know. And even if their church has a vibrant college ministry, Winter Break may not be a time it’s very active.

So as a college minister – by calling – what are you going to do? Will you shepherd them in some way, or will they spend several weeks (including Finals and their first week back, perhaps) without your influence in their lives?

Just something to think about. I know every situation’s different. But sometimes the “machine” of our situation has a way of undermining our actual calling to shepherd these students.
