What questions are you asking when you’ve finished an event (a weekly large group, a semester of small groups, a retreat, an on-campus outreach, or anything else)? Does it sound more like…

  • “Did we get it done?”
  • “Did people like it?”
  • “Were there many hitches?”
  • “Do we want to do it again?”

…or does your evaluation session sound more like…

  • “What did this accomplish?”
  • “What did we set out to accomplish?”
  • “Could we have accomplished those things better?”

Which questions you’re asking says an awful lot about your college ministry. The first set of questions sounds perfectly fine, but I’d guess they far too often indicate a ministry that’s more about “running plays” than actually moving the ball down the field.
