collegiate ministry seminary courses

I’m a big fan of academic training in collegiate ministry, but with the general undervaluing of college ministry, such training isn’t particularly widespread. There are, however, some seminaries and graduate schools with a course or two, and there are a few with entire “tracks” or degrees devoted to our field.

I don’t know of a good list of campus ministry seminary courses anywhere, so I thought I would start compiling one. If you know of any college with at least one class in college ministry, please let me know! There are a lot of Christian grad schools out there, so we should work together on this one. (And undergrad College Ministry courses count, too.)

Here’s my present list. But it seems pretty short to me. (There are bound to be more than just this, right? Although I’ve checked quite a few other major schools with nothing more to report… That’s a bummer.)

  1. Matt

I took a class at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, called “The Christian Faith & the University.” It was taught by Dr Mark Coppenger, who is a church-planter/BCM director/college professor/seminary professor living in Chicago. The class focused on how Christians ought to engage the modern university system (through both ministry & scholarship) and how many “Christian” universities have drifted away from their historic foundations (a la Burtchaell’s The Dying of the Light).

    Good stuff
